Peace Corps Volunteer
PROLIR	Maxixe, Mozambique		    2007-2009
•	Completed an extensive ten-week training consisting of Portuguese language, cross-cultural understanding, and health and HIV/AIDS technical training.
•	Worked in a small, community-based organization that focused on leadership, empowerment and income generating projects for young woman, ages 16-21.
•	Wrote, implemented, monitored and evaluated grants for the organization.
•	Co-facilitated trainings on health, parenting skills, HIV/AIDS education and prevention.
•	Provided parenting classes for women and educational groups for their children.
  
Internship Coordinator / Business Liaison
 Outside In	Portland, OR	2004-2007
•	Partnered with youth experiencing homelessness in the Employment Resource Center to help youth obtain educational and employment goals, and work toward self-sufficiency.
•	Developed and coordinated an internship program for 17-23 year olds.

Wilderness Course Supervisor

•	Supervised 31-day wilderness courses, worked closely with course instructors to plan itinerary, structure, and curriculum for each course.

•	Worked directly with probation offices, caseworkers and parents of clients.
•	Interviewed potential clients and worked with admissions team on participant selection.

Wilderness Course Instructor

•	Co-led adjudicated youth (ages 12-18) on 31-day wilderness courses.
•	Maintained a physically, mentally and emotionally safe environment for students. 
•	Facilitated discussion groups on topics such as self-esteem, accountability, trust and self-motivation.
•	Taught all outdoor wilderness skills including rock climbing, map and compass, high challenge courses, team-building, and outdoor living skills.
•	Created experiential opportunities and utilized counseling skills to assist students in connecting wilderness experiences to their present and future lives.
•	Supported students as they transitioned back into their homes and communities.
