Helpful Links for the
Oregon Trail http://www.isu.edu/~trinmich/teacherguide.html Originally made to be the study guide
and resources for the documentary ÒThe Oregon Trail.Ó Site contains
vocabulary words, discussion topics, student activities and test questions. http://www.endoftheoregontrail.org/histhome.html The
official website for the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center in Oregon City.
Oregon Trail History Library includes a FAQ and good accounts of what it was
like on the Oregon Trail. http://library.thinkquest.org/CR0210182/
This
website is good for kids to go look at. Highlights include sound bites of
animals and sounds that pioneers might encounter, recipes that pioneers ate,
and sound bites of weather. Interestingly, this site was created by a group
of, what I am assuming are, students. Although, I cannot find whether or not
they are students. http://www.blm.gov/or/oregontrail/ This
is the official website for the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive
Center in Baker City, OR. This has wonderful activities for kids (word
search, Kids on the Trail, Homework Helpers) as well as resources for
teachers (downloadable worksheets and coloring sheets.) http://www.isu.edu/~trinmich/Sites.html This site has an interactive map of
the Oregon Trail. It divides notable Historic Sites along the trail
categorized by state. http://www.thefurtrapper.com/oregon_trail.htm This
site is historical factoids. What I like about this one is the clickable
thumbnails of authentic artifacts. http://nb.wsd.wednet.edu/lmc/pathfinders/Oregon_trail_pathfinder.htm Website
created for 4th grade classes studying the Oregon Trail. Gives book lists for
non-fiction and fiction. Gives links for other related topics. By
