Symbols of Ukraine
This coat of arms called a trizub and is ubiquitous throughout Ukraine. Its origins, however, are unknown. Ukrainian speakers often point out that the design can be divided into four Cyrillic letters that spell the world "freedom."
The Ukrainian flag may appear simple, but there is symbolism behind it! The blue represents the sky, and the yellow stands for the country's wheatfields.

The wheatfields are especially important to Ukraine's identity. During the Soviet era, Ukraine produced a large percentage of the USSR's food. Ukrainians take pride in their country's fertile, dark soil, and many plant gardens each year.
