The Storyline Method began thirty years ago in Scotland as a means of moving discipline based education toward a meaningful integration. 

  

Key people involved: 

Three educators Sallie Harkness, Steve Bell and Fred Rendell were asked to develop an approach that would specifically meet the needs of high risk students, but would also be developmentally appropriate for all students throughout Scotland.  Over time, the Storyline method has become improved and is now being used in several countries worldwide.  The method was adopted to allow elementary teachers the flexibility to use an integrated approach to curriculum.
