Why does ice float? Explore the unique properties of water using the public domain molecular visualization software RASMOL and/or the Chemscape CHIME web-browser plug-in. Cindy Klevickis, a professor at James Madison University in the Department of Integrated Science and Technology assembled some excellent resources for using these tools with middle and high school students on her Molecular Visualization Resource Page as a part of Project Visualization in Science and Mathematics (Project VISM).
