Fishing Spiders

Fishing spiders can run on water because they have little hairs on its feet which repel water. Fishing spiders don’t only eat fish, sometimes they hunt on land and water. They eat frogs, fish, and sometimes insects that have dropped into the water. They bite the prey and the venom is injected into the prey that paralyzes it and kills it. Fishing spiders are about the size of a quarter but the female spider is bigger.  They have 8 eyes, and are generally brown, grey, white, and black.  It has an abdomen and a cephalothorax which holds their legs. A fishing spider is a nursery web spiders because when the eggs are ready to hatch, the female spider builds a nursery tent and guards outside. Scientists believe that fishing spiders live all around the world. They tend to live in places that are dark and are near water, such as swamps, ponds, and boat docks.
