Math Workshop Video Project

The Project: For this project, in groups of three (3) you will have to research some mathematical aspect from history or the real world.  Then, your group must create and edit a 3 - 5 minute video to explain your finds.

You have five options for your research.
    1.  Research the life and times of a famous mathematician.
    2.  Research the mathematical contributions of a past civilization.
    3.  Answer a mathematical question that you want to know. (e.g. Why does a curve ball curve?)
    4.  Teach an indepth mathematical topic.
    5.  Any other topic that you in which you are interested.

Note: All topics must be teacher approved.

Grading: Here is the grading rubirc for this project.

Good Examples:  Here are some good videos done by previous people.

Surface Area of Pyramid
This is really well done. It was done by middle schoolers, but the math is clear and the video is very well done.

Math of the Aztecs
This is a video I put together as another example of what you could do.  This more along the report route where as the other videos on this list are used to teach a mathematical topic.

 Fibonacci Sequence
This was done by an elementary school student.  The mathematics is no where near what you should be doing but the video is fun to watch.

Geometry Notebook
This is also done by an elementary student, but you should look at it as an idea of what you could do. Notice all explanations are written.  If the math was at a higher level, the basic layout of this video would be a very good project.
