A Little Bit About Me...

"It must be remembered that the purpose of education is not to fill the minds of students with facts...it is to teach them to think, if that is possible, and always to think for themselves."
--Robert Hutchins

My name is Jenae Carpenter and I'm a student in the MAT 5th Year program at Pacific University.  I'm currently taking full-time classes to be an elementary school teacher, and student teaching at Terra Linda Elementary School in Beaverton.  I've lived in Oregon my whole life and went to school in the Beaverton School District.  I just graduated in May 2007 with my Bachelor's degree in Social Work with a minor in Spanish from Pacific as well.

Some of my interests include music, especially singing and playing the piano, traveling, and social activism.  I have two dogs named Rudy and Benny, and I love them like my brothers since I have no real siblings!  I met my boyfriend Patrick in high school and we've been inseparable for over six years!

I'm so excited to be starting my career as a teacher!  I can't believe I get to spend my life fulfilling my passion for children and education!
