My name is Katie Furgison, and I am currently in the MAT program at Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR. I am married to my college (Go Beavs!) sweetheart Jason and have two dogs - Duke is a Rottweiler mix, and Madison is a Brittany Spaniel. Our dogs are our babies, and we are very involved with animal rights and rescue. We currently volunteer at Pawsitively Pitbull in Portland and are staunch advocates for traditionally discriminated breeds and firmly against Breed Specific Legislation. Pit Bulls and Rotties rule!
Jason and I live in Hillsboro, but I was raised in West Linn, Oregon. I have a wonderful, loving parents and a little sister, Laura, who just married her long-time love Jerod Warf. My parent have an American Pit Bull Terrier/French Mastiff mix named Woody, and Laura and Jerod have a Pit Bull pup named Diesel - he is wild and runs into everything! You can learn more about by checking out my photos on the Albums page.
After graduating from Oregon State University with B.S. in Social Studies/Pre-Elementary Education, I worked as a Infant and Preschool teacher for a year and a half. After that, I worked as a nanny for two precious children in North Plains, Oregon. Nolan and Bella are still the loves of my life, and leaving them to pursue my masters at Pacific was one of the hardest things I have ever done. You can see lots of fun pictures of us if you click on the Children in My Life page.
When I am not at school, I enjoy reading, training and competing in triathlons, camping, hiking, singing, dancing, water sports, volunteering, going to church, learning and teaching about the Oregon Trail, politics. and spending time with my friends and family.
