My name is Katie Furgison and I am in the Masters of Arts in Teaching program at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon.  Currently I am student teaching in third grade at Patterson Elementary in Hillsboro and in kindergarten at the newly developed Early Learning Community on the Pacific University Campus.  So far, I am enjoying both placements and have already learned so much about being a teacher.

Prior to starting my Masters program, I attended Oregon State University and graduated in 2005 with my B.S. in Social Studies - Pre-Elementary Education.  After graduation, I took a three year hiatus from school to teach infants and preschool at Kindercare and work as a Nanny.  Both jobs only solidified my love of children and teaching and confirmed my belief that working with children is what I am meant to do.
