•Spent 7 weeks teaching the class full-time.
•Developed and taught an 8 lesson unit on America to 90 students. Children showed interest in what they learned by checking out relevant library books, and relating their learning to the world around them.
•Implemented Positive Behavior System strategies and policies.
•Worked on data team with three classroom teachers.
•Attended school wide data team meetings centering on DIBELS.
•Attended 2 EBISS meetings, which centered on behavior, attendance, and achievement.
•Taught Houghton Mifflin reading curriculum with fidelity to 44 students.
•Participated in staff-wide study Valuing Differences and Creating Unity.

Third Grade-Patterson Elementary, Hillsboro School District April 12-June 18, 2010
•Designed and taught a 9 lesson unit on Simple Machines to 29 students. Students showed interest in what they learned by continuing to design their own machines after their performance task was complete.
•Implemented Positive Behavior System strategies and policies.
•Taught Houghton Mifflin reading curriculum with fidelity to 27 students.
•Continued to participate in meetings as described above.

•Acted as classroom assistant one day a week to 29 first graders and one day a week to 29 third graders.

•Assisted 6 classroom teachers with 4 special needs pre-school classes.
•Planned and organized projects to support specific educational units.

•Especially enjoyed working with children in speech groups, providing the therapists time to pull out children one-on-one.

•Worked with children in grades K-6.
•Responsibilities included assessment, small group instruction, and collaboration with the teacher. It was very rewarding to share my love of reading with 45 children.
Related Experience
Raising Children
•Spent most of my time from 1982 to present raising my three children.
•I have been a parent volunteer at Eastwood Elementary working with reading groups, chaperoning field trips, grading papers, and prepping instructional materials.
Home Schooling
•Home-schooled my three children for 4 years; included participating in co-op program that required comprehensive lesson and activity planning and teaching.
•An interesting unit revolved around the opening of the West-Side light rail. We learned how the tunnel under Sylvan was built, how deep it is, etc. Unit culminated with a ride on the MAX, of course!
•My youngest child successfully transitioned back into public school for her 6th grade year.

Annual volunteer at non-profit camp for teenage girls.
Presided over children’s Sunday School program for approximately 50 children.
