Here is a story about who I am and where I come from...


Home’s where the heart is…

Home is
The dress up clothes my cousin and I constantly appreciated! Home is peanut butter in my hair and mom’s awesome record frisbees…Home is photo albums and my dogs Cody, Riley, and Cole who all continue to keep us laughing. It’s the birthday parties, and pizza after game parties. Home is the giant 18 ft Christmas tree that is wired to the ceiling. Home is flowers, the flowers my dad would pick up at the little stands on the side of the highway…it’s a home cooked dinner every night from mom. It’s a big old chair in the family room and my teddy bear and blanket sitting with me watching Disney.

Home is…
My dad’s truck and the boat we hooked to the back of it… it’s old baseball mitts in the garage with the big bucket of baseballs. It’s the swing set and play structure in the back yard. It's the clubhouse that my dad built for Jeff, Elizabeth and I. Home is selling back golf balls to the golfers on the other side of the fence. Home is lying in our hammock and talking to a good friend. It’s the big Jasmine bush that smells so amazing in the summer time.

Home is…
The big hill of an Island in the middle of the cultisac, it’s the golf course connected to my back yard, it’s the green tree pool, it’s potlucks and 4th of July fireworks… it’s the boy up the street and walking up the hills and watching the sunset. Home is lighting the way for Santa with hundreds of paper lanterns lining our streets on Christmas Eve. It’s the parks and my first kiss on the top of a train engine… Home is the neighbors and friendships and support they have given me.

Home is…
Grandpa Bill and Grandma Pat and Grandpa Moran. Home is the memory of Grandpa Don and how I was his “lottie” It’s hearing about my beautiful grandma Clara and seeing who she was through my mom. Home is my aunt Betty and Uncle Fred who took my brother sister and I as part of their grandchildren. It’s my dad’s 9 brother’s and sister’s Mike, Mary Pat, Anne, Nancy, Steven, Susan, Mark, John, Katie and the fam. It’s Kathy, Mike, Tommy and Mikey. Home is my 25 cousins.

Home is…
Hot Apple cider after a long night of trick or treating…Kiss Cookies for Christmas… and the best home baked chocolate chip cookies. Home is my mom’s happy birthday double layer fudge ice-cream cake…Helen’s scalloped potatoes… grandma’s peanut butter cookies… popsicles…slurpee runs with dad…home is gelato from the gelataria nell’ Campo di Siena…Carlsberg beer from MoJo’s I Kobenhavn…and rug brod…the best rye bread I’ve ever had.

Home is…

“Does God know that’s right?” when I’ve done something wrong “Go get a slurpee Chelle!” from dad when I did something right. It’s “You’ll never be pretty on the outside unless you’re pretty on the inside.” From mom. Home is “Shellie!!” or “Michelle Claire stop it now!” It’s “Brava Michelle!!! (While hitting me upside the head)” because I just figured out how to use their antique of a computer… and “Jeg Elsker Missselle” from Ida and “good night, sov godt” from gustav when putting him to bed.

Home is …
Clara Ct. and the endless plays and clubs that were made there…it’s the beach on a windy day and jumping in the ice-cold Pacific Ocean while dad fishes. Home is GO DUCKS and GO BEAVS. Home is Pi Beta Phi where I met some real friends. It’s Grandma and Grandpa’s house in Bend on Thanksgiving and the pond is frozen and we all skate around before the big dinner…it’s Mt. Hood and learning to bomb down the mountain on skis. It’s camping all over Oregon with my family and friends. The Portland Children’s Museum, it’s the Zoo And Packy the Elephant! It’s the “Letter' Buck!” You hear at the Pendleton Round up. Home is baseball fields and elementary school playgrounds…Home is Europe where I learned that home could be anywhere and with anyone. Home is Fremont, Tigard, Lake Oswego, Corvallis, Siena, Eugene, Copenhagen, and Portland
