TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS AND CONCEPTS.
Teachers demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts. Teachers:
|
A. demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills, and understanding of concepts related to technology (as described in the ISTE National Education Technology Standards for Students)
B. demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies.
|
My Narrative: I believe I am able to demonstrate introductory knowledge and skills related to understanding concepts connected to technology because I have self navigated my way through various software such as iMovie, GoLive, Apple's Garage Band. I previously knew only how to use Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Exel. I could explore the world wide web but now I feel much more confident to use these resources for instruction with my future students. I plan on continuing my technology knowledge by attending confrences and maintaing my subscription to ISTE. This will hopefully keep me updated with future innovations connected with technology and education. |

II. PLANNING AND DESIGNING LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AND EXPERIENCES.
Teachers plan and design effective learning environments and experiences supported by technology. Teachers:
|
A. design developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies to support the diverse needs of learners.
B. apply current research on teaching and learning with technology when planning learning environments and experiences.
C. identify and locate technology resources and evaluate them for accuracy and suitability.
D. plan for the management of technology resources within the context of learning activities.
E. plan strategies to manage student learning in a technology-enhanced environment.
|
| My Narrative: Through out my technology education, I have been able to work through the software available that enables me to create a podcast. This is a developmentally appropriate narrative that will contribute to the education of various students if teachers choose to do so. I also believe that my webquest shows, a developmentaly appropriate use of online resources. It uses the avaliability of online and technical resources to enhance children's education. I feel as though I've been able to plan strategies that will manage student learning in a technology-enhanced environment through completion of my webquest. Students will be able to easily navigate through technology to enhance their learning experiences. I found technology to be a wonderful resource for all students to learn how to navigate through. It gives students experiences which they would not be able to aquire with out the use of technology. |

III. TEACHING, LEARNING, AND THE CURRICULUM.
Teachers implement curriculum plans, that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize student learning. Teachers:
|
A. facilitate technology-enhanced experiences that address content standards and student technology standards.
B. use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students.
C. apply technology to develop students' higher order skills and creativity.
D. manage student learning activities in a technology-enhanced environment.
|
| My Narrative: I believe my future students will benefit greatly from my aquired knowledge about the various software that I have been able to become familiar with. I hope to be able to meet students various needs by being able to create materials in the future that will cater to their learning styles. Products such as a Podcast can give students the auditory narrative that some students need in order to have a rich learning experience. I will also be able to use digital photography and teach students how to use this as well to create books or diagrams. Students may also learn how to create movies of footage they have captured on their own. These various ways of instruction really help to deepen student experience to create a more postive, innovative and progressive learning atmosphere. Giving the tools I've learned to the students will create an emphasis in problem solving and creativity on their part. From what I discovered in my own learning of the materials I had to work hard at those two things. |

IV. ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION.
Teachers apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation strategies. Teachers:
|
A. apply technology in assessing student learning of subject matter using a variety of assessment techniques.
B. use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning.
C. apply multiple methods of evaluation to determine students' appropriate use of technology resources for learning, communication, and productivity.
|
| My Narrative:Through using various online resources as a teacher you are able to create rubrics on various sites such as rubistar.com and other basic software such as word or exel. I was able to actually make my rubric/evaluation avaliable to students by posting it on my webquest site linked through my professional website. There are various ways you can use technology to assess a student's knowledge on a particular topic. One of the ways I found to be the most progressive and I believe would be the most motivating would be assessing students based on a podcast or informative movie they have created themselves. They are then providing information while using technology based methods, which you are then able to asses |

V. PRODUCTIVITY AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE.
Teachers use technology to enhance their productivity and professional practice. Teachers:
|
A. use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
B. continually evaluate and reflect on professional practice to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student learning.
C. apply technology to increase productivity.
D. use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents, and the larger community in order to nurture student learning.
|
My Narrative: Earlier in the year I was given the opportunity to attend a technology conference for emerging teachers. I found that I learned so much by going to this conference that I plan on attending others in the future. For example I learned how to use the new technological software "garageband" to create a Podcast, which can help communicate to various students who have that need of interactive/audio learning. I have also subscribed to a magazine that is anchored in technology and hope to continue with this subscription so I can progress professionally in the area of technology. As I travel through this never ending learning process of teaching I find myself asking questions about my aquired knowledge thus far. I try and keep my mind open to new ways to use technology to better me as a professional and teacher of students. I hope to be able to bring technology in my classroom to promote motivation and confidence which will then hopefully increase productivity. Through email and my professional website I believe I show that I am able to use up and coming technology to communicate with parents, peers, and the larger community to enhance the quality of my student's learning.

VI. SOCIAL, ETHICAL, LEGAL, AND HUMAN ISSUES.
Teachers understand the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding the use of technology in PK-12 schools and apply those principles in practice. Teachers:
|
A. model and teach legal and ethical practice related to technology use.
B. apply technology resources to enable and empower learners with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities.
C. identify and use technology resources that affirm diversity
D. promote safe and healthy use of technology resources.
E. facilitate equitable access to technology resources for all students.
|
| My Narrative: As an educator I believe it to be of utmost importance that we as individuals hold ourselves to the highest social, ethical and legal standards. Through the use of technology I believe I've demonstrated the use of appropriate ethical practice in my podcast by citing various sources that were used to gather the information, and in my webquest through citing the source from which I recieved a graphic. Through out all my educational exprience I've found it extremely important to cite all sources used for educational purposed and hope to promote that in my students learning as well. If using technology, we must teach how to use these resources ethically and in a manner that is equal to all students. I hope to make it my first priority when teaching to make all materials taught avaliable to all students. This is a reason for posting my professional page online so parents and students can access this information. |

Final Reflections While on my journey through the world of technology I have run accross many new and exciting things that I hope will become a stepping stone for rich experience based learning. Students will now be able to create and do, while still observing and problem solving. Technology I find is so interesting because it is forever progressing. Your lesson in technology is never over. I feel that I stepped into this class unsure of my capability and now leaving this class I am suprized with all the innovative, fun, challenging, informative products I have turned out. I hope to continue to grow as I hope to do as a teacher as well. This resource of "technology" is something that I hope my students will find to enrich their education as it has my own.
