Evaluation
I will be evaluating the students on their basic understanding of the objectives:
Did they understand that they needed to find an animal in that specific country (and not just an animal they like)?
Did they understand that the country they were researching actually has a climate- and did they say what that climate is?
Did the student understand that there are specific reasons why certain animals (and people) live in particular climates?
Did the students create an accurate representation of their particular country and/or climate (with the diorama)?
Overall, did the student understand the basic objectives of this task?
At the end of the assignment I will ask the students several questions, including:
“what did you learn this week?”
-about animals?
-about geography?
-about climate?
-about countries?
-about research?
“was there anything that was especially challenging for you?”
“what did you like the most?”
“what was your favorite new thing that you learned this week?”
I will also ask them to make a list of the animals we learned about, the countries, and the different climates. I will have them tell me what types of different climates there are.
