I am an only child to a extemely loving family.
I would like to
do a road trip across the United States, exploring the East Coast.
I could never turn away a stray animal. Over years I have fostered and
adopted; dogs, cats, guniea pigs, hamsters, rats, a very angry gerbil,
squirrels, cockatiels, parakeets, lovebirds, finches, chickens, goats,
sheep, ponies, countless insects, and one stubborn donkey.
I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, but raised in Oregon. No, the
rain doesn't bother me. I enjoy our green state and have come
accustomed to wearing five layers of clothing, whereever I go.
My favorite teachers have been Mr. Cosquero, Mr. Store, and Mr. Musaeus. They
were unique yet, classic individuals. They tolerated nothing less
than respect, love and understanding in the classroom and the
world. Our classrooms were built like communities and our voices were
always heard. Mr. Musaeus, helped me rediscover my love for literature,
gave me the confidence that I would succeed in college, and taught me
to believe in myself. He not only inspired me to become a
teacher, but to relate to my students without losing my own voice.
I graduated from Portland State University on June 18th 2007 with a
double major in Social Science and Womens Studies. Graduating
college and becoming a parent have been inspirational events in my
life. Walking in my sons shoes has given me
a different perspective on what matters in life. His presence
gave me strength to accmplish what is needed to become a teacher.
I
am currently attending, Pacific University. I feel
comfortable and confident in the classroom, like it is a home away from
home. I feel that teaching, is my calling in life.
