A little bit about me...

I grew up in a small suburb of Portland with my Mom. I'm not sure if it is because my Mother was a teacher or because I was blessed with many wonderful teachers throughout my childhood, but I have always known it would be my path. After graduating from Lake Oswego High School in 2001, I headed off to the University of Oregon (GO DUCKS!) to pursue a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Educational Studies. After graduating from the University of Oregon in 2005 it was time to take a break from school and move back home!

I spent a year working in retail, exploring life back in Portland and sharing time with friends and family. After that year I took an Interim position as the Jr. High and High School Youth Ministry Coordinator at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. It was one of the most rewarding years of my life, I grew as a person and a professional. I was blessed to represent the Staff on a trip to Haiti in the winter of 2007 and while there found my second home. I spent 10 days with some of the most generous and beautiful people. To be quite honest I dream of the day I can return.

This June I started in the MAT 5th year program at Pacific University in Forest Grove. I am now in my last year of school before beginning my career as a Teacher. The program is rigorous and rewarding and I'm trying to get the most out of each day. I'm blessed to be doing my Student Teaching in the Beaverton School District at Terra Linda Elementary. I'm placed in a 1st/2nd Mulitage class as well as a 4th grade classroom, both are challenging and rewarding. Our ECE/Elementary Cohort is learning to survive, enjoy, and work together to become powerful educators!
While my spare time is limited I do my best to make time for fun, even if it's giggling my way through a study session, grabbing dinner after class or going out with friends on the weekends! I can often be found singing out loud, as music has always been a large part of my life and spending time with my dog Bailey. I am enjoying my time in the Portland area with friends from high school, college and now grad school!
