Objective:

In the upcoming years, my goal is to become an effective elementary school teacher dedicating myself to promote quality education in a diverse population. 

 

Education:

Pacific University. 2005- Present.  Masters of Arts in Teaching.  Expected graduation date: June 2006. Member of Kappa Delti Pi: International Honor Society in Education.

University of Oregon.  1992 B.S. School of Journalism, emphasis on Advertising.

 

Professional Work Experience:

Aloha Park Elementary School   2000-Present

Instructional Assistant in Special Education and Title One

Work with students in small group settings in literacy and math for grades K-6

Creating, implementing and modifying lesson plans while working closely with resource room and classroom teachers

Teaching Guided Reading, Houghten-Mifflin and Read Well reading programs

Worked one-on-one with a student with Osteogenisis for three years

 

Findley Elementary School Volunteer     1996- 2000

Volunteered 250 hours in 2000 at Findley Elementary School

Created and implemented pilot fundraiser to aid the PTO in fulfilling their project needs

Worked closely with teachers and students in classrooms; tutoring and handling all clerical functions

Worked closely with ESL students learning basic language skills

Taught art lit history and lessons

Chaperoned many events and outings

Tutored students in reading

 

Oregon Daily Emerald   Summer 1990

Advertising Coordinator:

Created innovative promotions to increase awareness of the university’s recycling program

Coordinated student graphic design group for University of Oregon’s school newspaper

 

Troutman’s Emporium    1988-1990

Manager of Young Women’s Apparel:

Implemented marketing promotions in young women’s department

Scheduled employee work shifts

Set weekly and daily sales goals for employees

Responsible for daily register accounting
