Here we go, Historians!  By now, you should have:

  1. 1.Been assigned to a team of 4 students.  This makes up your Wagon Train.  You and your Wagon Train will be expected to create a final art piece for your evaluation.  More to come on that later.

  1. 2.Created a Pioneer Journal in which to record the information you discover during this WebQuest.  Remember, information can be recorded in whatever way helps you to complete your “best thinking.”  This can be lists, diary entries, concept maps, or drawings.  This may also be written in whatever language you are most comfortable writing in, as long as you are able to eventually communicate your ideas to your group in English.

  1. 3.Been assigned a the role of a specific Black Pioneer to study.  Once you've been assigned a role, it is time to start your WebQuest!

WebQuest ready?  Here is the jumping off point!

  1. 1.Please take a look at the links listed under General Information. This section will provide you with general background details on Black Pioneers.  Read as much as you think you need to have a good understanding of Black Pioneers and Homesteaders.

  1. 2.Take a look at the links specific to your Black Pioneer.  Remember to be taking as many notes in your Pioneer Journal as you think you will need to later answer those essential questions!

After completing your WebQuest and filling your Pioneer Journal, it is time to move onto the portion of your journey where you will get to communicate what you have learned! Go ahead and go there now.

SPECIAL NOTE:  If you would rather read the web texts in Spanish, you can copy and paste paragraphs into the iGoogle translation tool:
