Northwest Oregon
The northwest region of Oregon includes the north coast, the northern Coast Range mountains, part of the Columbia River Gorge, and part of the Willamette Valley.

Oswald West State Park encompasses several beautiful beaches on the North Oregon coast.  Here are some cool places to visit in the park:

Hug Point features a waterfall, tidepools, caves, and you can still see wheel tracks in the old road bed where stage coaches had to "hug the point" at low tide (There was not a highway then; everyone had to travel on the beach).

Short Sands Beach is a beautiful cove, popular with surfers, that is a short hike from Hwy. 101 through an old growth forest and over a swinging foot bridge.  Three different trails go from the highway to the beach.

Neah-Kah-Nie Mountain is the place to visit if you like legends of buried treasure! It rises 1,680 feet above the ocean. Your vantage point gives you an incredible view of the coastline for many miles. This is a good whale-watching spot in winter, but bring good binoculars!
