Here are a few outside links that you may find interesting. I've used some of these in researching for lesson plans.

Clatsop Nehalem Confederated Tribes

Haystack Rock Awareness Program

North Coast Wildlife Rehabilitation Center

Links About North Coast Birds

My Wonderful World (National Geographic Project)
This page features links to other projects for my
Technology Across the Curriculum, and Math and Science Methods courses, as well as to some samples of projects from other courses.

Some are more boring than others. In other words, I
included some because they were required to be linked here,
while others are included for interest.

Animals that live in rocky shore intertidal zones are unusual, fascinating, and very unique in their adaptations, as they must be able to survive daily fluctuations in their environment, including periods of time out of water. I wrote and taught a unit on marine biology for my fifth grade work sample, and taught a first grade unit on marine and intertidal animals as well.
Here are photos I took at Cape Arago of a giant Pacific chiton (also known as a gumboot), and a sunflower sea star.

Tech Projects
I enjoy using technology and I usually catch onto it quite quickly.  I have often said that this thing that some people believe is a natural talent of mine, is actually a combination of lack of fear of exploring ("Let's see what this does") and pure tenacity (a.k.a. stubborness). When something seems to be getting the best of me, I naturally tend to feel convinced that there has to be a solution, and I'm darn well going to hang in there until I find it. I can't leave it alone, which sometimes is a bad thing, but has worked well for me with computer issues. I've been known to call tech support back after they've been unable to help me and tell them how I solved a problem so that they "know for next time."  (I've never gotten the impression that they've appreciated my advice....)  In all honesty, I experience as much tech frustration as the next person.

On that note, I offer this quote, which is how I feel about technology:

"If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn't go anywhere."  (unknown)

Requirements for Course:
Technology Across the Curriculum

Philosophy of Education (condensed version)

The original version is over 20 pages long and no one in their right mind
would want to read it! (Except, of course, Prof. Bailey, who assigned it.)

Try out this fun WebQuest on exploring Oregon!

Jeannette Rankin Podcast
This podcast, about the life of the first woman elected to Congress, was a joint effort with friend and fellow student, Beverlee Brick.
It was created with Apple's Garage Band software application, and in addition to photos of Ms. Rankin from the internet, it features some of my original photography.

Dee wrote the script, Jos

Nicole did the photography, and I did the computer

Work Samples
Upper Elementary Unit: Oceans & Shores
An Investigation of Marine Biology in the Rocky Shore Intertidal Zones
Primary Unit: Metamorphosis
An Investigation of the Metamorphosis of Butterflies and Frogs
The primary grades work sample has too many pieces to post here. Both of these were fun to design and fun to teach, but what a lot of work! I tend to over do things, and these were no exception.

What I Learned in College

As if I didn't get enough of writing in college, I wrote this entirely for fun, not for a class, to include with my thank you notes for graduation.
