I am an outdoors guy.  Some of my outdoor hobbies include: hiking, running, gold panning, crabbing, playing softball, and just plain being outside.  I ran collegiate track at UWP and enjoy watching track and field events and also participating in track meets.
One of my favorite hobbies is panning for gold.  I am still a novice prospector, but being out on a river searching for tiny pieces of gold flake is very relaxing to me.  It is an activity that takes patience and hard work; I think that is why I enjoy it so much.
After moving to Oregon I recently discovered crabbing!  It is one of my new favorite hobbies.  Kind of like gold panning it takes patience and hard work and you never know what you will get.  Anytime a friend comes to Oregon to visit I end up taking them out crabbing for the experience.  It isn’t Deadliest Catch, but it is a great time.
Since I ran track in college (sprints) I still enjoy doing some longer runs.  Meg and I frequently sign up for 5k charity runs around the Portland area.  It is a great time to exercise for a cause.
Another one of my favorite summer and spring activities to do is playing softball.  I am normally on 1-2 teams throughout the year.  It is a fun, competitive, and relaxing sport that I enjoy playing.
