I was born in Spokane, Washington and moved to Beaverton, Oregon when I was five, which is where I grew up. My family consists of my parents, Dawn and Gary, and my two younger sisters, Karen and Katie.
I graduated from Westview High School in 2001 and then attended Western Oregon University. Even though I attended a university where education was the most popular program and the majority of my friends were all studying to be teachers, I still wasn't convinced that the profession was for me. Therefore, I chose a different course of study and in 2005, graduated with a double major in Health and Spanish.
After graduating from college, I found a job working in the computer lab at Earl Boyles Elementary School in Portland. While I have a strong technology background, I never imagined that I would enjoy working with the kids more than the computers. It was my experiences at Earl Boyles that helped me realize that my true passion was teaching. After two incredible years there, I decided to return to school to earn my Masters in Teaching.
When I am not busy with school or work, I enjoy digital photography, reading, riding my bike, and solving crossword puzzles. I also enjoy spending time with my dog Max and my three rabbits.
