A list of my favorite BOOKS and AUTHORS:
~Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine (my favorite book): A different take on
the Cinderella story. Ella is cursed with obedience at birth by a well-meaning
fairy, suffers at the hands of her step-sister and falls in love with the
prince while trying to break the curse.
~Princess Academy by Shannon Hale: A young girl who feels like an outsider in
her own community learns her value as she helps protect her friends when
kidnappers come to the academy where the girls are preparing for the prince to
come and chose his bride.
~Books by Tamora Pierce: Many of the books in her series portray a strong,
young female set back in the times of roaming knights and magic. Her books are
easy to read, and very engaging.
~Books by Lurlene McDaniel: Her books feature teenage girls and boys who are
struggling with a hardship in life. Usually it revolves around cancer or
another disease.
~Eric Carle: Books for children that are classics in elementary schools and fun
to read.
A list of my favorite MOVIES:
~Walt Disney Classics: The movies I grew up watching including Cinderella,
Beauty and the Beast, The Fox and the Hound, Peter Pan, 101 Dalmations, The
Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Toy Story, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves,
Aladdin, and Sleeping Beauty.
~Pride and Prejudice (2005): The newest version with Keira Knightley. I love
this version of the classic tale; although some may say it's slow I could watch
it every day. Knightley plays Elizabeth Bennet, the second oldest daughter out
of five. She must see past her prejudice and pride in order to accept her true
love.
~Pirates of the Caribbean: In this series of three movies (so far) the first is
by far my favorite. A mixture of drama, humor and romance comes to life when
Elizabeth Swann is kidnapped by pirates trying to break an Aztec curse.
